I am so excited to announce that my cookbooks Delicious El Salvador and El Salvador, Sabores Deliciosos are finally going to press this week! I want to thank you for all the pre-orders, and to apologize for the delays in getting it to you. I am grateful for your support. The books will be ready to ship on November 15th, 2017.
My printer in the United States is The Covington Group, located in Kansas City, Missouri. They printed Delicious El Salvador’s first edition. Writing, creating, building and producing cookbooks are a big challenge, finding a good printer is a blessing because is one less thing to worry about. I am also proud to say is made in America
I hope to sell El Salvador, Sabores Deliciosos in El Salvador as well, specifically at Librería La Ceiba, a chain of eight bookstores, with almost sixty thousand titles available. I found a great printer in El Salvador too, Imprenta Ricaldone was founded in 1942 by Salesians priests. They have excellent customer service and competitive prices.
Delicious El Salvador was my first cookbook, I had no previous experience on how to write or publish cookbooks, but I felt obligated to take on the challenge to rescue and preserve El Salvador’s authentic cuisine for the next generations. It took me four years to do it. On April 4th, 2013, at the Salvadoran Consulate in Los Angeles, I released it to a packed room of guests and members of the press. I did all the cooking and publicity for the event. A couple of days later, La Opinion, on their Saturday edition, gave the book a one page review, it was outstanding. I felt like I was walking on clouds. My husband and I were eating breakfast at Portos bakery in Burbank, and we bought Los Angeles Times and La Opinion, to read while we sipped our lattes and nibbled on pineapple danishes. It was a huge surprise to see the amazing review, I started to cry, sobbing at times…all the hard work, the money invested, the lonely times in front of my computer, my soul, my hands…so tired from cooking and typing, had paid off!
More validation for my work came from Salvadorans in my cooking classes, amazon reviews and comments on my You Tube channel and other social media channels.
El Salvador, Sabores Deliciosos, is my first cookbook in Spanish. It took almost four years to complete. It has been an incredible amount of work. Polishing the recipes to conform to world standards of measures, and names of ingredients took a lot of effort, but is done!
I am very proud of the cookbooks, and hope you will find them a useful tool in your kitchen. Thank you for visiting.
All the best,
